The lesson is only the beginning.
Why a chance to practice belongs at the center of professional learning.
Explaining a skill is useful. Demonstrating it is better. Giving someone a chance to try it turns an idea into an experience they can learn from.
Consider the first conversation with a frustrated job seeker. An employee may know that empathy matters and still struggle to find the words under pressure. Practice makes that moment concrete.
A manageable learning session can focus on one behavior: hear the concern, acknowledge it, and agree on a next step. Then a realistic scenario gives the employee a chance to respond, receive feedback, and try again.
The goal is to connect learning to the next real interaction. What will the employee do differently when they return to work?
